Thanks for this, its a great piece and it's the first I've read on this story , not because I hate the leading actor or anything as shallow as that but because I'm about to release a film of my own and so been rather busy.

I think you have encapsulated in your last couple of paragraphs, the thoughts and feelings of a LOT of people, particularly those like myself in the Entertainment Industry or Live Events like Theatre, Concerts Television etc. The list is very long and a good few million of us globally, saw our prospective careers decimated. We were the first to be laid off and more or less the last to go back.

I've seen first hand , evidence of experience being favoured by cost cuts and budgeting over safety, and in the two years whilst we were coping with Covid, reputable and long standing companies have gone and been replaced with Start Ups pretending they can do everything the same for 70% more on one's budget.

It's small wonder accidents happen that could have been avoided when the overall atmosphere is is a powder keg of nerves, stress and a growing number of people are suffering with serious mental health issues brought on by the lack of security in the job market and homelessness. The vast majority I would say are anxious on a scale never felt before in 'peacetime' and even that seems precarious with each morning headline.

Anyways I just wanted to say thanks to you for writing what must have been quite a difficult article to put together and, as the art of Cinematography is such a rare and beautiful thing I for one hope that Halyna Hutchins is at peace with the Universe. I have said my prayer for her, to her loved ones and to all those involved in this tragic incident which as you so rightly pointed out was entirely preventable, I hope this will at least make Senior Management THINK before they put cutting costs before experience and discipline.
